The Department of Education for Ireland is making photovoltaic solar panels available to thousands of primary schools, using a fully digitised, end-to-end process built with Esri’s ArcGIS system.
The School Photovoltaic Programme includes monitoring and display screens for each installation. Solar panels can be used as practical educational tools. They provide a tangible way for students to learn about renewable energy and the science behind solar power.
The Solar for Schools Programme, now entering its final phase, is an initiative funded by the Government’s Climate Action Fund and supported by the Department of Education and SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland).
This section provides the suite of guidance documents and forms for the second phase of the Schools Photovoltaic Programme. The second phase of the Schools Photovoltaic Programme will open for applications from 11th November 2024. All schools in the second phase will be contacted by the Department and invited to apply from that date.
