Barefoot Palace
The koi pool is located to maximise the cooling of the summer 'berg' winds that come from the hot desert over the verdant mountain range we can see to the north. This makes for a wonderful cool breeze flowing in to the house using passive architectural techniques.
The pool also provides delight, reflects playful light in to the interior, and enhances the strong Feng Shui principles
Scarab Dunes
This lovely luxury timber home was designed to fit amongst a pristine rehabilitated coastal landscape with sensitivity. It is biophilic in that the structure will be covered in climbing plants and surrounded by the endemic, ancient Milkwood forest, and will soon be completely hidden in the landscape.
Studio LYON designs are most often a product of Lyon's holistic and passive architecture strategy, as seen in this image where he again used the cooling effect of the north facing pool to reduce interior temperatures during summer by opening the large, sliding double-glazed doors.
All his buildings are fully insulated and orientated according to the Sun and prevailing climatic conditions.
